Colombo and Kalutara districts have so for recorded the highest number of confirmed cases of COVDI-19 in Sri Lanka followed by the other four districts that have been designated as High-Risk zones in the country.
Puttlam has recorded 35 confirmed cases, Gampaha 26, Jaffna 13 and Kandy 7 by 10 a.m. today (15 April) , according to the daily COVID-19 situation report released by the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health.
These six districts make up 173 of the 233 confirmed cases with the rest of the cases spread out in the district of Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Matara, Kegalle , Galle and Batticaloa and Badulla.
Twelve districts have not recorded a single case so far, according to the EU.
Sixty three of the 233 confirmed patients have recovered while seven death have been recorded .
In addition to this 144 who are suspected COVID-19 cases remain hospitalized.
The first confirmed case of the coronavirus in the country was a Chinese woman who was detected on January 26. She recovered and left for China about four weeks later. The first local to contract the disease , a tourists guide, was detected on 11 March.
