UNP leader Ranil Wickremasinghe today  (5 April) made several recommendations to the Government to overcome the economic crisis looming in the face of the spread of the corona virus.

In a message posted over social  media, Wickremesinghe said there would be  widespread economic problems that the country would face as many sectors  have be dealt a severe  blow by COVID-19.

Among these , the UNP leader said  the Government must amend the Vote on Account  which was introduced last October as  funds allocated by it are insufficient to  deal with the present situation.

He also said that the Government must approach the International Monetary Fund (IMF)  to get  maximum assistance in this scenario when it convenes for its Spring Meeting from April 17-19.
