The Election Commission will meet on Monday (8 June) to reach a final decision on the new date for the parliamentary election.

The EC which met yesterday discussed the Health guidelines that were handed over to them by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr. Anil Jasinghe which gives instructions on how to conduct the election in keeping with regulations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Among the recommendations are for candidates to keep their campaigns confined to pocket meeting of a maximum of 30 participants and use mass media and social media for campaigning.

The MOH has also recommend wearing of masks by voters as well as handing washing and temperature checks at polling booths.
