The first SriLankan Airlines flight from Karachi, Pakistan landed this evening at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) carrying 113 students who were stranded there due to the airport closures in the wake of the coronavirus.
This is the first of several flights that will bring home Lankan students stranded in India, Pakistan and Nepal, the Airlines said.
SriLankan released photographs of the measures adopted to ensure that social distancing was maintained, and other safety measures were in place during the flight as well after disembarkation. .
The students were handed over to health authorities after their arrival here.
