The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) today slapped a Maximum Retail Price (MRP) for turmeric power at Rs. 750 per kilo amidst a growing shortage for the spice in market.
Turmeric powder was snapped up y by consumers amidst reports that the herbs powerful antioxidant and immune boosting properties would help against coronavirus and led to a shortage in the market as well as a hike in prices.
The CAA announced the MRP for turmeric power with effect from today and prohibited importers, producers, distributors, or traders from selling, exposing, offering or displaying for sale above the fixed price.
