A large number of Buddhist devotees flocked to the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya on Unduwap Poya day which fell yesterday.
Religious observances were carried out amidst COVID-19 restrictions.
It was the last Full Moon Poya day of the year and commemorates the arrival of Sangamitta Theri to Sri Lanka caring with her a sapling from the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Buddha Gaya in India.
