The government today ordered all liquor outlets to close, a day after they reopened from a month-long closure.

The decision seems to have been prompted by strong objection to reopening the liquor outlets from the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) and other organization’s including the  Alcohol & Drug Information Centre (ADIC) which warned the  decision could have serious consequence for the country.

Long lines were seen outside liquor outlets in areas where the curfew was lifted yesterday as tipplers lined outside to purchase their stock.

Since the closure of licensed liquor outlets, there has been a sharp rise in distilling of illicit liquor throughout the country with Police raiding many such places.
