More mock elections were conducted by the Elections Commission (EC) yesterday as part of preparations for holding the parliamentary election under the COVID-19 health regulations.

Mock elections were held at Wellawaya in the Monaragala District, Dimbulgala in the Polonnaruwa District, Kalpitiya in the Puttalam District, Rattota in the Matale District, Akuressa in the Matara District, Negombo in the Gampaha District, Colombo North, and Dematagoda in the Colombo District.

More such electon will take place today in Jaffna, Kurunegala, Ampara, Nuwara Eliya, Haputale in the Badulla District, Horowpothana in the Anuradhapura District and Kahatuduwa in the Colombo District.

The mock elections are to familiarize election officials on how to conduct the poll  in adherence to the COVID-19 health regulations in place.
