Returnees from foreign countries are to be sent to quarantine centers only after results of PCR tests conducted on them at the airport are known.
Till then , the returnees are to be accommodated t a separate location equipped with all the necessary facilities.
The decision was arrived at during a meeting of the Task Force entrusted with COVID – 19 control and medical consultants at the Presidential Secretariat chaired by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday.
As the pandemic may last for a considerable time, the President has highlighted the importance of having such a facility at the airport, the President's Media Divisiion (PMD) said in a news release.
The Government will also discuss with other countries the possibility of conducting PCR tests in the relevant countries before people board flights to Sri Lanka.
