A police curfew was declared in the Divulapitiya and Minuwangoda areas in the Gampaha District this morning after a female employee of Brandix apparels tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Government Information Department said that a Police curfew will be in place until further notice.
The woman has been admitted to the Gampaha hospital with a fever a few days ago and had tested positive for the coronavirus following which 15 hospital staff and 45 employees at Brandix were told to self-isolate.
The patient has been admitted to the Infectious Disease Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile Brandix in a statement said the infected apparel worker is from its manufacturing facility in Minuwangoda.
“The rigorous protocol implemented across Brandix, and the immediate response and support received from the PHI and relevant health authorities of Sri Lanka, enabled the early detection of the patient, ensuring her timely transfer to IDH for immediate treatment and mitigation of any further spread of the virus,” Brandix said.
“We continue to assist the relevant authorities, seeking their counsel and extending our utmost co-operation throughout the process. All necessary measures to ensure complete containment of the virus have been implemented with immediate effect, including the rigorous disinfection of the affected work site. The 40 other workers of the facility that had come into contact with the patient have been quarantined immediately along with their families and will undergo PCR testing for further measure,” it said.
