The Supreme Court by a unanimous decision dismissed all the Fundamental Rights (FR) petitions that were filed challenging the Gazette issued by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa dissolving Parliament as well as the Gazette issued by the Election Commission that set the date of the election for 20 June.
The Court also dismissed all preliminary objections raised during the ten days of hearings.
In the brief settlement, Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya PC announced the decision of the five-member bench in Court this afternoon.
The bench comprised Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya and Justices Buwanaka Aluvihare, Sisira de Abrew, Priyantha Jayawardena, and Vijith Malalgoda.
