The coronavirus outbreak has led to the scaling down this year’s Vesak celebration, but the spirit of Vesak has not been dampened .
While religious observances will largely be observed from homes tomorrow, devotees are busy buying Vesak lanterns to adorn their homes from lanterns makers who braved the curfew to sell their ware.

At the Vickramasheela Pirivena in Bandaragama, novice monks were seen making lanterns as the country prepares for a very usual Vesak day.
