Two Sri Lankans have been injured and the Sri Lanka Embassy building has suffered minor damages due to the massive explosion took place in the Lebanese capital Beirut yesterday.
The Sri Lanka Embassy is awaiting further information in this regard from the Ministry of Public Health, the Embassy said in a news release.Further developments on the incident will be conveyed upon the receipt of the information, the Embassy said.
As a result of the sudden explosion, minor damages have occurred at the premises of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut and to the residences of the Embassy officials.
However, the Embassy officials have not sustained any injuries.
Around 25000 Sri Lankans presently reside in Lebanon and the Sri Lanka Embassy continues to maintain 24-hour hotlines which are open for queries.
