Close to two months after the government imposed the island wide curfew to curb the spread of the coronavirus, health authorities have given the go ahead for the resumption of civilian life with effect from tomorrow.

The Government also announced that the curfew will be lifted in all districts, except the Colombo and Gampaha districts, at 5 a.m. today and re-imposed at 8 p.m.

In Colombo and Gampaha, work will resume while the curfew is in place with both the state and private sectors requested to only ask essential workers to report to office while others continue with the work from home arrangement.

All institutions have been requested to adhere to prescribed health guidelines issued to control the spread of COVID – 19 viruses while carrying out their operations.

The private sector entities are requested to open for work at 10 a.m. daily.

Buses belonging to Sri Lanka Transport Board and railway carriages can only transport employees of both public and private sectors who are reporting for work.

Those not reporting for work are requested to remain in their homes as a measure to control the disease.

People can leave their homes only to purchase essential items such as food and medicines by using the method introduced by the authorities using the last digit for the NICs to access these services.
