The Election Commission today announced 5 August as the new date for the holding of the general election.
The decision to hold the election in August was announced by EC after health officials gave the go ahead for the poll with strict adherence to health regulations, both by candidates and their supporters and election officials.
The Gazette notification with the new poll date will be issued tonight.
The Election Commissioner yesterday issued a 524-page Gazette Notification with the names of candidates, political parties and independent groups contesting the upcoming general election as well as allocated symbols and preferential numbers.
The Gazette also contains the location of the polling stations for each of the polling districts.
